YinSpire: Surrender to Awaken

20-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training hosted by Stephanie Strand

In this modern society, we are flooded with the pressure of hustle, grind, and execution. Are you ready to surrender to what is and reclaim some peace
This training will inspire you to move into the yin so you can awaken to your greatest life.

Whether you’re an enthusiastic student looking to deepen your personal practice or a yoga teacher looking to diversify your classes, this is the perfect weekend to immerse yourself in all things yin.

Experience Steph’s Passion for Yin Yoga

As an expert yogi and passionate instructor, Stephanie Strand is the perfect mentor for this unique workshop. She is an experienced 500 hr registered yoga teacher, certified in prenatal yoga training, a licensed massage therapist, and completed 1000 hr program for yoga therapy.

She believes yoga is a beautiful union between all elements of what comprises who you truly are as a whole person.

“It is your spirit, body, emotions, mind, essence, and everything in between. It is more than just the pose, it goes deeper than that. Yoga is what makes us better people so that we can go out into the world and do better for others.” - Stephanie Strand

You’ll leave the training with a solid foundation and the ability to guide yourself and/or your students safely and effectively through a yin yoga practice.

Yin yoga is often misunderstood as “boring” or “slow.” But, it’s an essential part of a well-rounded yoga practice. Yin gives you the opportunity to tap into a deeper sense of self. Through this careful and intentional practice, it’s possible to:

  • Safely and naturally increase flexibility and range of motion so you can live with ease

  • Reevaluate your principles and find alignment

  • Change the way your mind works so you can approach your life with compassion

  • Improve your relationship with stress and show up as the best version of yourself

  • Acknowledge the limitations of your mind and body and be at peace with them

Who is the training for?

If you’re a teacher and want to elevate your skills:

  • Your time is valuable, learn everything you need to about yin in just one weekend .

  • Three days with Stephanie’s expertise is a value that far exceeds your investment .

  • Don’t miss out on your opportunity to add these skills to your yoga teaching portfolio, Transitions School of Yoga Yin TT is only offered 2x each year.

If you’re a student and want to deepen your practice:

  • Going into a room full of props can be intimidating if you don’t know what to do with them. During YinSpire you’ll learn how to use them effectively for your body.

  • Begin to understand other elements of yin so the practice feels less slow + boring and more enlightening + rejuvenating.

  • You’ll be able to practice yin anywhere, without the need for guidance in the studio.

Or maybe, you're both!

This training has something for you, no matter where you’re at in your yoga journey. YinSpire will be hosted in our homey studio where you’ll meet in a comfortable environment with plenty of space to explore what you learn about yin. Sip on your favorite cup of tea while you soak in all the knowledge Steph has to offer. There’ll be ample bolsters, blankets, mats, and blocks to cozy up with as you take it all in.

YinSpire is an in-depth course that will expand your own yoga practice and attract more students to your classes. Unwind and relax while you broaden your understanding of yin yoga through the following curriculum:

Main Poses of Yin Yoga

  • Learn over 32 yin poses with modifications and progressions to suit anyone in their practice. You’ll understand how the poses create space in the joints, how to keep students safe, and the benefits of each pose. Throughout the training, you’ll develop an awareness of your own practice and gain confidence when teaching others.

  • Chinese Meridian Theory

    • Examine the crossover between Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic Medicine. By the end of the weekend, you’ll be able to map which meridians are linked to certain poses and find specific points for various healing techniques and energy work. In turn, you’ll learn how to remove blockages, improve energy flow, and increase awareness by connecting more strongly through the five koshas (layers of awareness).

  • Yin and Yang Organ Pairs and Poses + The Five Elements

    • Dive deeper into the background of Chinese medicine while learning various terms, philosophy, and theory. This includes learning about the body in terms of yin and yang organs and how each pair of yin/yang organs is affiliated with one of the Five Elements. We’ll go deep and discuss suppressed emotions and other unconscious reasons for blockages in the physical body and how to fix imbalances caused by them. By understanding these factors, you’ll be able to identify them in your everyday life and return to peace quickly with ease. This can improve confidence, strengthen relationships, and promote health.

  • Myofascial & Acupressure Release Points + Pranayama

    • Learn the relationship between the fascia, muscles, and joints, and how each is affected when positioning the body in a yin pose. Discover how to use the power of the mind to calm the nervous system through pranayama (breath control). We’ll talk about six pranayama techniques that help you or your students move through a yin yoga practice with mindful awareness.

  • Basic Functional Anatomy

    • Break down and learn the anatomy of the poses so you can safely guide yourself or your students in and out of them. It’s necessary to understand how different bodies create different shapes, based on Paul Grilley's “Functional Approach to Yoga” and how it works with the teachings of yin. We’ll also cover hypermobility and how it affects the body in yin yoga.

  • Mindfulness and Meditation Techniques

    • Students will learn how to integrate mindfulness techniques like body scanning and awareness of sensations during poses to deepen their personal and teaching practice. As well as how to guide meditation practices tailored to yin yoga, such as breath-focused meditation, visualizations, or mindful observation, to help students enter a meditative state.

  • Adjustments and Hands-on Assists

    • Students will learn safe and effective methods for providing hands-on assists that honor individual boundaries and anatomy. How to use props (bolsters, blocks, straps) to support students in finding comfort and depth in each pose. Techniques for reading body language and energy to determine whether or how to assist, ensuring a respectful and supportive experience.

  • The Role of Breath in Yin Yoga

    • Students will learn how to teach and cue breath techniques that promote relaxation and enhance the yin yoga experience. The connection between breath and the nervous system is important, and students will learn how to use breath awareness to guide students through moments of discomfort or resistance.

  • Self-Care and Yin Yoga

    • Students will learn how to use yin yoga as a tool for personal self-care, exploring the therapeutic benefits of stillness, long holds, and emotional release. Strategies will be taught to encourage students to approach yin yoga with a self-compassionate mindset, prioritizing rest and recovery.

  • Safe and Creative Sequencing

    • Become aware of pain management, prop use, how the chakras are affected, and any contraindications that would lead to injury. You’ll learn three class sequences throughout the weekend and detailed in the teaching manual for future use while practicing on your own or guiding your students. These sequences combine all of the training aspects to make a safe and effective yin class.

You’ll leave inspired to share all you’ve learned with your students and community, eager to put the knowledge to work in your own life.
